St. George’s University’s female soccer team, SGU Lady Knights, defeated Futgof, 1-0, in the recently concluded Waggy T. Super Knockout Football Tournament, making history in this popular Grenadian competition by winning the first-ever female tournament organized in recent years. The Lady Knights were undefeated throughout the entire nine-week season.
“It was no easy task working with such a diverse team, comprising students from different schools and terms,” said head coach Felix Thomas, SAS ’11. “We worked tirelessly even with the limited time we had and it all paid off.”
SGU has a vibrant sporting community. Teams coordinated by students, staff, and SOs participate in a variety of sports, including basketball, volleyball, netball, soccer, cricket, and tennis. They regularly compete in local and regional competitions and have become well-respected rivals in these arenas.
