SOM Fall 2014 Fifth-Term Awards: Recognizing Academic Excellence and Philanthropy

Five fifth-term students from the School of Medicine were recognized for academic success and service to the Grenadian Community on May 7 at Charter Hall.

Jeffrey Bird and Paul Howatt walked away with the BSCE 1 and BSCE 2 awards for outstanding performance on those exams. Jeff Svec was presented with the White Coat Award for professionalism, humanism, and qualities which exemplify the ‘White Coat;’ and Samantha Welniak was the recipient of the Clinical Skills Golden Stethoscope Award for outstanding academic performance in clinical skills, interpersonal skills, and humanitarianism.

St. George’s University Iota Epsilon Alpha (IEA) Medical Honors Society presented Meaghan Marley with an Outstanding Service Award, recognizing academic excellence and service to the Grenadian community through outreach initiatives. These epitomize the ideals upon which the St. George’s University Medical Honors Society was founded.

The fifth-term students leave to commence two years of clinical training, and upon successful completion will be conferred their Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University.
