School of Veterinary Medicine Alumni and veterinarians from around the world welcomed the opportunity to combine vacation time with earning Continuing Education (CE) credits at the picturesque True Blue Campus at St. George’s University in Grenada. The two-day conference held in September on “Soft Tissue Surgery for Small Animal Practice” provided veterinary practitioners with valuable tips for making the surgeries easier and more successful.
Main presenter, Dr. Karen Tobias, Professor of Small Animal Tissue Surgery, has spent over 17 years of her 30 year veterinary medical career at the University of Tennessee. The writer, editor and travel enthusiast was excited to visit the university her clinical students call home and to share her expertise.
“When you’re a student there’s only so much you can absorb because you don’t have a lot of practice but once you graduate and go out and practice, you wish somebody would come back and say this is how I do it or this is what makes it easier,” said Dr. Tobias. “I like to give practical and up-to-date information and because I’m also a book editor I get to see some of the more recent information that comes in and it’s nice to be able to share that with other veterinarians.”
